Review| “Ready For Rescue?” By Katie Pye

We all know the story of Rapunzel, but what if we got it wrong?

In “Ready for Rescue?”, author Katie Pye explores the possibility that maybe Rapunzel was not as ready to leave her tower as everyone assumes.

What is “Ready For Rescue” about?

Like all of the stories in Katie Pye’s Fairy Tale Fruad series, “Ready For Rescue” puts a spin on a classic tale and tailors it to a specific lesson. In this case, the lesson is about self care and healthy habits.

Ready For Rescue
“Ready For Rescue” by Katie Pye is available in paperback and on Kindle

The witch who “adopted” Rapunzel is getting a bit fed up with her messy captive, so she tries anything and everything to teach Rapunzel to take better care of herself, including sending a prince her way. But… Is Rapunzel really in any state to be rescued? The result is a rather funny lesson in why one should take care of themselves and have healthy habits.

What Age is this book for?

I’d say around age 6-12. the lesson and humor are likely easier for that age group to understand. It was a bit over my 4 year old’s head, but I think a slightly older child would benefit from the lesson and be able to understand the humor in the conclusion.

What is the lesson?

The overall lesson in this book is to clean up after yourself, to have good personal hygiene and healthy habits. Rapunzel in this story is messy and lazy, not eating right or cleaning up after herself, and she learns the hard way that this can be off putting to potential suitors.

Would I recommend it?

This is by far my favorite of all the books in the Fairy Tale Fraud series, and I would definitely recommend it, specially if you have a child who is struggling to clean up after themselves or practice proper hygiene. It’s a fun story and a great twist on a classic tale.

Katie Pye is our featured author for August. I will be reviewing several books from her fairy tale fraud series in the next coming weeks. All of her books are avialable through Kindle Unlimited. Click Here to find out more about Kindle Unlimited Membership Plans.
