STOP and Read This Book!

Our newest book published by The Book Badger, LLC is  “STOP and Read This Book” by blog creator Amanda Silva.

“Stop and Read this Book” is an interactive children’s picture book with a greater purpose than just turning pages. This fun and colorful reading experience teaches children to use all their senses and helps them practice mindfulness.

A Grounding Exercise Disguised as a Book

The Book Badger Blog’s creator Amanda Silva created this book to give kids a quick 5 minute break when they are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or bored. The idea for the book comes from a common grounding technique called 5-4-3-2-1 grounding. There is a great article about it HERE.

Similar to other interactive picture books such as Herve Tulle’s “Press Here” and Chistie Matheson’s “Tap the Magic Tree”, “Stop and Read This Book” allows kids to participate in activities as they read. What makes it different, however, is what’s going on behind the scenes.

Each Task Helps Kids Calm Down

While kids complete small tasks like blowing out candles, seek and find pages, and sniffing their hands,  they are actually giving their brain a much needed break. The book can be used to help kids calm down, take a quick brain break, or even just stave off boredom for a few minutes while they wait for something.
